Wolfsburg - There was good news for VfL Wolfsburg fans on Wednesday as Luiz Gustavo returned to light training.

The Brazil international, who missed this summer's Copa America after being forced into surgery for a knee complaint, returned to the Wolves' training pitch to greet his team-mates in the morning before completing an individual training session in the afternoon.

Coach Dieter Hecking was only four players away from a full squad; Vieirinha was rested due to an adductor complaint while Christian Träsch was suffering with an infection. Germany U-21 internationals Robin Knoche and Maximilian Arnold are back in Germany and expected to return to full action on Friday.

"Luiz Gustavo is also back! Our number 22 completed a 30-minute session with Oliver Mutschler."
