Vincenzo Grifo set to join Borussia Mönchengladbach from Freiburg

Freiburg attacking midfielder Vincenzo Grifo will join Bundesliga rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach upon the opening of the transfer window on 1 July.

Grifo has put pen to paper on a contract until 2021 at the BORUSSIA-PARK.

"Vincenzo Grifo has developed in a really interesting way in the last couple of years in Freiburg," said Borussia's sporting director Max Eberl. "He played a key role in their outstanding season and will make us much more flexible going forward next season. We're really pleased to be able to bring him to Gladbach."

Grifo scored six goals and returned eight assists as promoted Freiburg finished a remarkable seventh on their return to the top flight.

The free-kick specialist becomes the Foals’ second summer recruit after Dieter Hecking’s side announced the signing of 17-year-old French central midfielder Mickaël Cuisance from Ligue 1 side Nancy on a five-year deal in early May.

While they are set to lose Mahmoud Dahoud to Borussia Dortmund over the close season, Gladbach have also recently confirmed that United States international Fabian Johnson and Guinean winger Ibrahima Traoré have signed new contracts with the club.
