It’s hard to imagine a world in which Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben are not part of the Bayern Munich squad. With both of their contracts running out at the end of the season, much has been made about their future, but the club’s top brass are determined to give this story a happy ending.

Fresh off their victory against Augsburg, which secured the Bavarian giants’ 27th Bundesliga title, the club’s management were full of praise for the legendary duo. "Robben and Ribery are outstanding players”, said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. “Jupp Heynckes has a very special history with them. I'm also very proud of them. These guys have marked an era in the last few years."

The champions’ CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also weighed in by praising the “tremendous success” the club have enjoyed since both players joined their squad. When asked point-blank by Sport Bild whether the duo would remain in Munich next season, the former Germany international said that “there are very little arguments against a renewal.”

Ribery is currently tied with Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Oliver Kahn and Mehmet Scholl for most Bundesliga titles by a single player at eight crowns. Robben was a key player in the club’s historical treble-winning 2012/13 season, scoring the decisive goal in the final against Borussia Dortmund.
