Munich – After yet another headline-grabbing display in FC Bayern München’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid CF in the Audi Cup 2015 final on Wednesday, attention once again centred on Brazilian sensation Douglas Costa, who was singled out for praise by his team-mates.

bundesliga.com rounds up the post-match reaction from the Allianz Arena…

David Alaba: “It was a good win for us. Douglas Costa has shown in the last few games what an incredibly good player he is, and I think he has the potential to be player of the season, otherwise he wouldn’t be here.”

Douglas Costa: “I’m happy with how the game went and that we won the game. I’m looking forward to the new season. It’s going to be a long campaign but I’ll do my best for FC Bayern. It will be hard work, but all of the guys here have been really good with me [since I arrived] and I’m feeling good.”

Philipp Lahm: “Real Madrid are a good team, and we’ve played well and managed to win it. It’s a really nice feeling for us. The new signings have all made a great impression so far and settled in really well. The important thing is that the quality of the squad is maintained for the entire season. We know that you can have difficult periods, and those are never easy to get through, but we’re well prepared for the season and we’ll go into it with confidence.”

Thomas Müller: “We played well again today. I think we made a couple more mistakes than yesterday and the pitch was a bit cut up in places, which didn’t make things easy.  But we did well. We’ve played two good teams and won twice. I wouldn’t say we’ll take anything in particular from these two games, though, because I thought we were in good shape anyway. We played well in China and again in Wolfsburg [in the German Supercup], even if we did lose the game.  All we have to do is make sure we don’t slip out of our groove and make sure we concentrate on the here and now, and I have a good feeling about that. Douglas Costa has a great engine and that’s certainly a good thing for our game.“

Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg: “We’re always happy to win games – it’s good for our confidence. We needed to approach the game professionally and we did that. We’re all looking forward to the new season – the whole club – and hopefully we can win all the trophies we compete in.”

Jerome Boateng: “The new signings have really hit the ground running and integrated themselves into the team, and they’ve made the squad stronger.”
