Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scooped the Torjägerkanone for the first time after finishing the 2016/17 campaign as the Bundesliga's top scorer.

The Gabon star struck twice in BVB's 4-3 win over Werder Bremen to take his final league tally to 31 goals, one ahead of Bayern Munich counterpart Robert Lewandowski - last season's leading marksman.

"It's a great night," Aubameyang told reporters after the game. "We finished third and qualified directly for the Champions League – and I won this trophy, so it's a great feeling."

Aubameyang becomes only the second African player to win the Torjägerkanone after Ghana's Tony Yeboah topped the scoring charts twice whilst on the books at Eintracht Frankfurt in 1992/93 and 1993/94.

The 27-year-old's 31-goal haul also equals Dortmund legend Lothar Emmerich's club-record total for a single campaign, set back in 1965/66.

Cologne striker Anthony Modeste finished third in the top scorer's race, on 25 goals.
