- Matt 'The Expert' wins internal battle.
- Astute new signings proved invaluable.
- Aubameyang once again a Fantasy match-winner.
The Official Fantasy Bundesliga specialists went head-to-head in two categories on Matchday 8. The winner in both the regular Fantasy rankings as well as the internal Project 50 battle was Matt 'The Expert' Howarth. Our resident number-cruncher is enjoying a hot streak of form and has put the pressure on the Coach and the Scout.
With a staggering 105 points the previous week, Matt took the honours among the experts. On Matchday 8, he picked up 99 to repeat the feat. Trailing in his wake were Flo The Scout on 93 and James The Coach with 80. In the overall table, however, the Scout still leads the way with 759 points, ahead of the Coach on 721 and the Expert on 711.
New signings make the difference
During the last transfer window, Matt signed Jonathan Tah, Willi Orban and Vincenzo Grifo. With ten and nine points respectively, Orban and Grifo repaid their manager’s faith with interest. Choosing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as captain also paid dividends, as that took the Borussia Dortmund superstar’s tally to 24.
The margin of victory in Project 50 was even clearer for Matt. With his budget of 50 million, the Expert plumped for Marcel Halstenberg (10 pts), Bastian Oczipka (10 pts), Vincenzo Grifo (9 pts), Benjamin Henrichs (3 pts) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (12 pts). The overall total of 44 points was too much for both the Coach and the Scout.
In their defence, they had signed Sokratis who had to pull out of the Dortmund defence at the last minute. The Scout had also gone for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting up front, who missed the match through injury. But the FC Schalke 04 striker’s zero points were still better than the minus-eight that VfL Wolfsburg’s Jeffry Bruma collected after being sent off. James and Flo are determined to put Matt back in place next week. Watch this space…
