First up, James The Coach, Flo The Scout and Matt The Expert reveal which players have surprised them most.

The Scout: Konstantinos Stafylidis (FC Augsburg, 6.7m)

Konstantinos Stafylidis (r.) has not missed a minute of Bundesliga action for Augsburg this season, and has chipped in with two goals.

Even though I like to think nothing can surprise me anymore, the first six matchdays of Official Fantasy Bundesliga taught me different. I didn’t expect certain players to gain anywhere near as many points as they did, whereas others remained below expectations. For me though, one player in particular stood out head and shoulders above the many surprise packages. With 62 points so far, Konstantinos Stafylidis is the best defender in Official Fantasy Bundesliga. I’d have got good odds on that with the bookmakers. But I sensed the force in him on Matchday 1 and recommended him to you back then.

With an initial market value of six million, you would now have to splash out 6.7 to secure the services of the Greek left-back. That is not a cent too much. Use the opportunity the unlimited transfers afford and sign the FC Augsburg rocket-shot now.

The Expert: Bastian Oczipka (Eintracht Frankfurt, 8.1m)

Reliable, strong in the tackle and a guaranteed starter, Bastian Oczipka (r.) has been quietly racking up the points at Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt players were not at the top of my Fantasy list this summer after the Eagles narrowly avoided relegation to the second tier last season, but Bastian Oczipka has been an Official Fantasy Bundesliga revelation. A permanent fixture in Eintracht’s defence, not only has he picked up 17 points for the time he has spent out on the pitch, the left-back has also garnered 24 points through successful challenges - only a handful of defenders have picked up more.

He may be some way behind Stafylidis in the list of highest-scoring defenders, but with the Eagles currently boasting the fourth meanest defence in the Bundesliga (along with Borussia Dortmund, no less), you could do a lot worse than draft the 27-year-old into your team. However, you might want to wait until after Matchday 7, when Niko Kovac’s troops play host to table-topping FC Bayern München!

The Coach: Vedad Ibisevic (Hertha Berlin, 10.8m)

Take one look at the Official Fantasy Bundesliga prices of the five strikers boasting a record of five goals in six games and Hertha Berlin’s Vedad Ibisevic is comfortably the standout coming in at just 10.8M. The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has had a hand in seven goals, but one of the main reasons he is currently the second highest-scoring fantasy player behind FC Bayern München's Robert Lewandowski is that he’s racked up 24 points from challenges won to compliment his goalscoring exploits.

I actually had Ibisevic in my fantasy squad on Matchday 1, but unlike Pal Dardai, who gave him the captain’s armband at the start of the season, I didn’t keep faith in the striker. Had I done so maybe Flo wouldn’t be sitting at the top of the standings!
