Munich – The seemingly infallible penalty-taker Thomas Müller admitted he had been a bag of nerves as his last-minute spot-kick earned FC Bayern München a 2-1 win over plucky Bavarian rivals FC Augsburg.

FC Bayern München

bundesliga.com has the post-match reaction from the Allianz Arena...

Thomas Müller: "We were a bit slow with the ball, but we created plenty of chances - we just didn't take them. We can't allow that at this level, when we are in a title race. We just put ourselves under pressure doing that and it's not on – it's just a psychological problem. The penalty put me in a pressure cooker. Even for an experienced player like me, I had butterflies in my stomach taking that penalty to make it 2-1 in the 90th minute. I would have preferred it if we'd scored earlier."

Robert Lewandowski: "Augsburg played really well. We lacked composure in the penalty area. It was a hard day at the office. The second half was a different story."

FC Augsburg

Alexander Esswein: "It's a very sad ending. We played really well for 70 minutes and defended our lead against a strong Bayern side, and here we are in the end empty-handed. We're so disappointed. We've just got to take the positives out of it and look ahead."

Paul Verhaegh: "To lose in such a way is very disappointing. Of course Bayern were the better team, but we gave it all, defended well and then we got punished in the end."

Marwin Hitz: "We fought hard for each other and you've got to say it's extremely hard to survive against Bayern."

Tobias Werner: "We held our own for a long time against a brutally strong side and we were so close to getting a point because we'd put everything into this game, but that gets us nothing in the end because we don't have anything to show for it."

Markus Feulner: "To lose this way makes it twice as hard."
