Eintracht Frankfurt captain Makoto Hasebe and coach Niko Kovac were delighted with the victory over Hessenderby rivals SV Darmstadt 98 that left Die Adler with a two-point cushion on 17th.

SV Darmstadt 98 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

Goals: 1-0 Vrancic (12'), 1-1 Hasebe (56'), 1-2 Aigner (83')

Niko Kovac (Frankfurt coach): "The result is good for us. Our fate is in our own hands now. The first half was the worst since I have been in charge. The second half was the opposite. I cannot say which result would better for us on Monday [SV Werder Bremen play VfB Stuttgart in a relegation six-pointer]. We need to concentrate on our own performances."

Stefan Aigner (Frankfurt winger): "It was very important that we won this game today. Based on our performance in the second half I think this victory was deserved."

Dirk Schuster (Darmstadt coach): "Eintracht punished us a bit. Our passing was a bit sloppy and we did not win many second balls. It does not feel good to come away empty-handed. We made two or three mistakes. I am optimistic about the task ahead."

Aytac Sulu (Darmstadt captain): "The first half was exactly as we had imagined. We were aggressive and won almost every tackle. In the second half we made many mistakes going forward. We could not find our teammates and we made the wrong choices. The fact that we conceded two goals from set pieces is, of course, bitter, because we defended very well otherwise."
