VfL Wolfsburg 0-2 FC Augsburg

Goals: 0-1 Finnbogason (1'), 0-2 Altintop (57')

Alfred Finnbogason (Augsburg striker): "It wasn't pretty, but we were effective. I really should have added a third, but we can be really happy with a third win in a row. Now we just need a few more points to be be sure of safety. I'm confident we'll get the job done."

Halil Altintop (Augsburg attacker): "After taking the lead, we didn't really get out of our own half before the break. We did a much better job in the second half, though, and managed to score the second goal. That helped us settle back into the game. Now we want to turn things up a notch against Köln."

Ragnar Klavan (Augsburg defender): "We were very compact defensively. On top of that, we were very effective. That was the key to the win today. We rode the occasional storm, but we fully deserved the win. The five-point cushion is OK, but we want to build on it at home."

Augsburg attacker Halil Altintop (r.) scored the crucial second goal in the 57th minute.

Jeffrey Gouweleeuw (Augsburg defender): "We got off to a perfect start with a goal inside the first minute. Then we had a bit of luck to still be in the lead at the break. I'm happy we scored the second goal. It's another win at just the right time. We want to secure our safety next week."

Markus Weinzierl (Augsburg head coach): "The early goal was incredibly important for us today. It did us good, but we made the mistake of trying to defend our lead. We sat back and got lucky when Max Kruse hit the woodwork. At the end of the day, we were effective, scoring two goals from three chances. We defended our lead with heart and passion and we are delighted with the results in our last three games."

Dieter Hecking (Wolfsburg head coach): "We managed to put the early goal behind us by the 20th minute. The will was there, but we weren't able to turn it around despite seeing a lot of the ball. We lacked penetration and an end product. We tried, but Augsburg defended really well and we couldn't find a way through. We deserved to lose."
