Watch as Frankfurt's Attila the Eagle proves a real lucky omen against Mainz

With their four-year stay in the Bundesliga under threat, Eintracht Frankfurt striker Haris Seferovic went to new lengths to ensure the points in the Rhine-Main derby against 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Sunday.

Nicknamed Die Adler, Eintracht's mascot is Attila the Eagle, who has been present at every home game since the 2006/7 season. The 12-year-old bird is seen as a lucky charm, but five points adrift of safety ahead of the weekend, Seferovic took it one step further against Mainz, plucking a feather from Attila and keeping it in his sock for the duration of the game.

Whilst the Switzerland striker was unable to find the target himself, Marco Russ and Änis Ben-Hatira - via the unfortunate Stefan Bell - scored at the Commerzbank Arena to drown out Daniel Brosinki's opener and deliver Niko Kovac's side a much-needed 2-1 win.
