Summary

  • Mavraj booked for foul on Cordoba.
  • Referee Sippel requires replacement yellow card after first tears in two.

There were strange scenes in 1. FC Köln's dramatic 3-2 win at 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Matchday 30.

After Köln defender Mergim Mavraj was called up for a foul on goalscorer Jhon Cordoba, referee Peter Sippel delved into his pocket to brandish what looked like a yellow card at the Coface Arena. Nothing unusual there, but take a closer look: half of the card itself had torn off. Just as well the fourth official had a stash of spares!
