Augsburg - Australian international Mathew Leckie’s first Bundesliga goal sealed a 1-0 Bavarian derby victory for FC Ingolstadt 04 away to FC Augsburg.

Ingolstadt showed a marked improvement on last weekend’s 4-0 home loss to Borussia Dortmund, restricting Augsburg to just three shots on goal in the first half. The visitors, by contrast, fired off eight efforts of their own, with Markus Suttner crashing a free kick against the woodwork and Moritz Hartmann drawing a fabulous reaction save out of Marwin Hitz.

Hitz was called into action once again at the start of the second half to deny Alfredo Morales, but Augsburg responded well enough and really ought to have taken the lead. Raul Bobadilla put the ball on a plate for Tobias Werner, who inexplicably fired over with the goal gaping. The hosts were duly punished for that miss as Leckie rifled home from 20 yards to hand Bundesliga greenhorns Ingolstadt their second win of the campaign.
