Robert Lewandowski (Bayern striker): "It wasn't a perfect game from us but after 120 minutes in the Champions League it was good to get the three points. When you're only 1-0 up it's dangerous right until the very end. Köln were at home and tried to score until the final whistle. The important thing is that we won the three points."

Manuel Neuer (Bayern goalkeeper): "We were very relieved after the final whistle. We had to work a bit harder to take the win home with us today. The three points are very important for us. If you don't score a second goal it makes things tougher. Köln were playing at home and were doing everything to turn the game around. They did that against Borussia Dortmund – scoring after the 80th minute to win the match 2-1 – but luckily that didn't happen to us. We defended well as a team and didn't allow them many chances."

Pep Guardiola (Bayern coach): "A huge compliment to the team. It was very difficult today, two and a half days after playing 120 minutes against Juventus in an emotional game. We played well in the first 30 minutes, but Köln were very dangerous in the last 25. We controlled the match but have noticed how hard it is to defend the title this year."

Marcel Risse (Köln midfielder): "We had by far the better chances in the second half. We stood higher up the pitch and put them under more pressure, but it just wasn't enough to get a goal."

Timo Horn (Köln goalkeeper): "We were a bit too passive in the first half, but were better in the second. Unfortunately we weren't able to score."

Peter Stöger (Köln coach): "We did ok today, especially in the second half. We were bolder after the break and we could perhaps have taken something from the game."
