Schalke still have a lengthy injury list to contend with, and with the visit of Augsburg coming in between the two legs of their UEFA Europa League tie with Borussia Mönchengladbach, Markus Weinzierl has a few team issues to consider for the meeting with his old club. Sead Kolasinac missed the Matchday 23 meeting between the Royal Blues and Gladbach but played in a mask in the European encounter, while Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could start on Sunday.

Paul Verhaegh could return to bolster the Augsburg defence after sitting out their entertaining draw with RB Leipzig last week. Halil Altintop may start, having faced twin brother Hamit in his last start against Darmstadt on Matchday 22, but Manuel Baum will still be without Alfred Finnbogason and Daniel Baier.
