A tendon tear in the knee rules out defender Mergim Mavraj, but Markus Gisdol may recall Johan Djourou to the starting line-up. The Swiss defender was on the bench for last week’s 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin, secured by Albin Ekdal’s strike 13 minutes from full time.

Gladbach are on a roll under Dieter Hecking, but even with the second leg of the UEFA Europa League tie with Schalke following on 16 March, the Foals’ coach looks set to name a strong line-up for Sunday. Qualifying for Europe again is very much on the agenda, and ahead of Matchday 24, Gladbach were just three points off sixth place.
