Mats Hummels (Dortmund defender): "Now we want to make it exciting again on Saturday. Obviously we're now in a better position coming into the game, and let's not beat about the bush: we want to cut the gap to two points. Saturday's going to be a brilliant game, we'll be really up for it."

Erik Durm (Dortmund defender): "If you look at the chances we created, then we were deserving winners. We put into practice what we had planned before the game and pressed Darmstadt in their own half. They were almost playing with six men at the back at times and so couldn't counter-attack. It was important to take the three points back to Dortmund. Now it's time for Bayern."

Thomas Tuchel (Dortmund coach): "The advantage is smaller now, but the game on Saturday has no more significance because of what happened. We would have approached the game with the same excitement, just now we have a better situation in terms of the table. We worked hard to be in this position and we've been consistently taking points for the last few weeks. It's up to us now to take the next step. Obviously, we're going to give it everything to cut the deficit further.

Felix Passlack (Dortmund debutant): "I'll leave Darmstadt a very proud man. I'm obviously delighted to have made my debut. I found out that I was going to play in the team meeting about three hours before kick-off, and obviously there are always some nerves, but that changes as soon as you're out on the pitch."

Dirk Schuster (Darmstadt coach): "The team is prepared to fight to stay up. We will deal with the situation. I think we made life really difficult for Borussia in the first half and I'm pleased with the battling qualities my team showed."
