Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bayern Munich's Javi Martinez and Borussia Mönchengladbach's USMNT international Fabian Johnson were all rewarded for their outstanding contributions at the weekend. Here's why...

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang(Borussia Dortmund)

The 27-year-old tormented the Bayer Leverkusen backline on Saturday, netting two in his side's 6-2 triumph to take his tally for the season to 21. That leaves him two ahead of Robert Lewandowski in the scoring charts, and just four shy of his total of 25 achieved last season.

As if that were not impressive enough, Aubameyang has only played 21 Bundesliga matches so far this term, giving him an average of a goal every 88 minutes.

Fabian Johnson(Borussia Mönchengladbach)

The USMNT star was one of the brightest lights in Gladbach's triumph over Schalke. Not only did he score his side's first two goals in the 4-2 victory, he was excellent in other areas too, winning 75 per cent of his tackles and covering a huge 12.11 kilometres over the 90 minutes.

The two sides will face each other twice more in the UEFA Europa League this month - but Schalke are undoubtedly sick of the sight of Johnson already.

Javi Martinez(Bayern Munich)

The Spaniard has had several spells on the sidelines since joining Bayern in 2012, but is currently enjoying a largely injury-free season in Munich - and the Bavarians are reaping the rewards. The 28-year-old was imperious away to Cologne, completing 96 per cent of his passes and winning 50 per cent of all challenges to help his side keep a clean sheet in the 3-0 win.

Furthermore, he broke the hosts' resistance with an instinctive flick in the 25th minute - his first goal of the season - to pave the way for another three points.
