VfL Wolfsburg's players were thankful to get back to winning ways after Saturday's 2-0 win over FC Ingolstadt 04 ended their run of seven league matches without a victory.

VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 FC Ingolstadt 04

Goals: 1-0 Draxler (29’), 2-0 Knoche (39’)

Julian Draxler (Wolfsburg midfielder): "The [opening] goal made it easier for us. It perhaps didn’t go as we imagined, but we’re just happy to get the three points. Hopefully we can build on it, but we have to play a lot, lot better."

Robin Knoche (Wolfsburg defender): "It was a completely different performance compared to last week. Now we've got to build on it."

Dieter Hecking (Wolfsburg head coach): "If you go seven matches without winning, then you can’t expect everything to suddenly come together like that. In the first 20 minutes we conceded possession easily, which we don’t normally do, but it was good that the team worked hard together and didn’t give Ingolstadt much room. In the second half we didn’t play well, but the most important thing is that the bad run us over."

Marvin Matip (Ingolstadt captain): "You can’t really expect anything else when you play that poorly for so long against a Champions League side."

Ramazan Özcan (Ingolstadt goalkeeper): "We’re honest enough to admit that it wasn’t good enough. We have to improve certain things. That’s football. The Bundesliga is a quality league."

Ralph Hasenhüttl (Ingolstadt head coach): "They deserved to win, especially after their first-half performance. We couldn’t get enough of a hold on the game, but it was frustrating that the first goal came from a mistake by us. We were better in the second half, but they saw it out relatively comfortably."
