Spanish centre-back Marc Torrejon is back in training after missing Freiburg's 3-0 Matchday 19 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach due to a cold. Attacking midfielder Maximilian Philipp is also available to start after recovering from the adductor problem that saw him sit out the trip to Gladbach.

Germany international Jonas Hector is a doubt after being taken off early in the second half of Köln's 2-0 DFB Cup loss at Hamburger SV on Tuesday. He is listed as day-to-day and missed training on Thursday along with Artjoms Rudnevs, who has a cold.

On-loan Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic is still waiting for his first minutes as a Köln player, while former Dortmund midfielder Leonardo Bittencourt will return if Peter Stöger goes with the same starting eleven that beat VfL Wolfsburg on Matchday 19.
