To celebrate the Germany coach turning 57 on Friday, bundesliga.com has dug deep into its archives and unearthed a real gem from when Joachim Löw was still wearing boots rather than plotting success from the bench.

Löw has been at the head of the Nationalmannschaft since moving up from being assistant coach to Jürgen Klinsmann in 2006, and his achievement of leading his country to the ultimate prize in football at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil will always be associated with his name.

SC Freiburg fans, however, also have a special place in their hearts for their former attacking midfielder, after the wonder-strike above, scored during his second stint with the Black Forest club.
