FC Bayern München sent out a clear message to title rivals RB Leipzig on Wednesday that they would not relinquish their Bundesliga crown lightly, and midfielder Thiago was at the heart of a muscular performance, his personal display earning him the #BLMVP award, voted for by the Bundesliga's Twitter followers, for Matchday 16.

The Spain international opened the scoring early on after Robert Lewandowski's shot came back of the post, and then set up compatriot Xabi Alonso to give Carlo Ancelotti's men a two-goal cushion inside 25 minutes.

Those contributions aside, the 25-year-old was otherwise a blur of quick-feet, shimmies and movement in midfield, helping the Bavarians to a 3-0 triumph that sent them three points clear at the league summit.
