After the impressive 1-0 victory away to FC Schalke 04 last week, the biggest question for Bayer 04 Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt is who to play in defensive midfield. Should Kevin Kampl recover from a foot injury in time, then either Julian Baumgartlinger or Charles Aranguiz could be afforded a rest ahead of Matchday 16’s midweek fixtures. Vladlen Yurchenko is also a possibility. Defender Benjamin Henrichs misses out and is expected to be replaced by either Danny da Costa or Tin Jedvaj.

FC Ingolstadt 04 sent shockwaves through the Bundesliga last time out as they inflicted a first defeat of the season on then leaders RB Leipzig. Coach Maik Walpurgis is expected to employ the back-three formation that worked so successfully once again in Leverkusen. In defensive midfield, Markus Suttner returns from suspension, meaning Anthony Jung could push further up field unless Moritz Hartmann gets the nod.
