Arjen Robben (FC Bayern München midfielder): "We haven't played the way did in the first half for weeks – as a player it's a lot of fun. We had a lot of movement, a lot of unpredictability, which is what I think we've been lacking in the last few weeks. We were really good in the first half and should have scored more. After the break we should have carried on like that, kept the tempo high and the ball moving quickly, but we eased off. We weren't quick enough and maybe our movement wasn't good enough. We should've scored to make it 3-1 [earlier]; that would've killed the game off."

Thomas Müller (FC Bayern München forward): "You could see how we responded to going behind by stepping things up going forward. We found the right intensity. It worked well with Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben in the three behind the striker. I have to deliver in my favourite position."

Carlo Ancelotti (FC Bayern München head coach): "We did well going forward in the first half, then Mainz upped the ante in the second and it was more difficult. It was a tough game, but we've got a good result out of it, and that was really important for us."

Yunus Malli (1. FSV Mainz 05 midfielder): "We gave it everything we had right from the start. In the end, though, on a day like today you need everything to go your way in order to take something from the game, but unfortunately that wasn't the case."

Martin Schmidt (1. FSV Mainz 05 head coach): "It was a tough game as we expected. We kept the game alive until the end and could have taken a point."
