Dortmund - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted a second hat-trick in as many games and Marco Reus bagged a brace as Borussia Dortmund eased to a comprehensive 5-1 win over FC Augsburg on Sunday.

Borussia Dortmund 5-1 FC Augsburg

Goals: 1-0 (Aubameyang 18'), 2-0 (Reus 21'), 3-0 (Reus 34'), 3-1 (Bobadilla 49'), 4-1 (Aubameyang 85'), 5-1 (Aubameyang 90')

Aubameyang got his first sniff of goal after just 38 seconds and the opener was not long in coming with a great dummy from Ilkay Gündogan putting the Gabon forrward in space to pick up Gonzalo Castro's pass and deliver a ball from which Aubameyang could not miss. Shinji Kagawa wriggled his way into position to send a low cross which Reus met at full stretch to double Dortmund's lead three minutes later. Another top-drawer assist from the Japanese midfielder with a backheel allowed the Germany international to make it three before the interval.

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl made two changes at half-time, and one of those – Tobias Werner – sent in a free-kick which Raul Bobadilla flicked on with his head to give the guests a lifeline. Bobadilla could have set things up for a grandstand finish when he fired wide after Mats Hummels' error. Instead, it was Aubameyang who put the result beyond any doubt, stealing in unnoticed at the far post to turn substitute Adrian Ramos' shot in five minutes from time before putting the cherry on top with his 20th goal of the season in all competitions, and 13th in the Bundesliga, in the final seconds.

Man of the match

Aubameyang was his usual hive of deadly activity in the Dortmund attack and with his name back on the scoresheet again, the good times are rolling once more at BVB. With 20 goals in 17 competitive matches this season, it is no surprise that whenever he touches the ball, you get the feeling something is about to happen, and it often does.

Talking point

It was not all about Aubameyang, though. Marco Reus was in sparkling form, but the silent star of the show was Shinji Kagawa with two sublime assists which ensured the loss of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from the squad for the first time this season was not felt. The Japanese midfielder set up both strikes for Reus, who thanked him with his first brace since March 2014.

Match stats

Julian Weigl sat on the bench for the first time this season in the Bundesliga for Dortmund.Piotr Trochowski made his first Bundesliga start since 26 February 2011.Aubameyang has now scored 20 goals in 17 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions this season (excluding UEFA Europa League qualification). The Gabon international has been involved in a goal on every single Matchday this season. He is also the first Dortmund player to have scored 13 times after ten games of a league season.Reus scored his first brace since March 2014, when he scored three against Stuttgart.
