Munich - FC Bayern München goalscorer Thomas Müller praised "a great team performance" in the wake of his side's 5-0 win at home to Hamburger SV in the 2015/16 season opener, while the visitors were determined to take the positives from a discouraging defeat.

bundesliga.com rounds up the reaction from the Allianz Arena...

Thomas Müller: "It was a great team performance today. Once again, we showed that we're still hungry despite our successes in recent years and that we always keep fighting, even if we're 3-0 up. That's the mindset we want to maintain."

Robert Lewandowski: "It was the first match of the season and we've won - that's the most important thing. The first half wasn't that good, but after the second goal it was clear that we could score more goals. It wasn't easy, but we had to remain patient."

Arjen Robben: "We got exactly what we wanted: we wanted to lay down a marker today  and show that we’re ready. It wasn’t easy because they played really defensively but scoring five goals at the end of the day is always good. On a personal level I’m just really happy to be back out on the pitch. I need to get back into my rhythm and to do that I just need games. We had to be patient on the one hand today, but on the other we needed to attack aggressively too and try to find the gaps."

Philipp Lahm: "The competition for places is fierce. All the players have to put in a performance in every match, otherwise it’s going to be difficult for them to make the starting XI or even the squad. We also have a head coach who gets the best out of us - it’s a good combination."

Douglas Costa: "I like being in Germany. All my team-mates have treated me very well, so I have no complaints. I feel good in both positions [on the left and the right]."

Hamburger SV

Dennis Diekmeier: "We have to focus on the positives. We were well organised in the first half and didn't concede many chances. In the second half we caved in after the early second goal. We're disappointed to have lost the game this way."

Albin Ekdal: "Bayern are one of the best teams in Europe. They're a strong team. We have to learn from our mistakes today."
