Stuttgart - VfB Stuttgart keeper Mitch Langerak is facing a race against time to be fit for the start of the 2015/16 season after being ruled out for four to six weeks with a thigh muscle tear.

The Australia international custodian underwent tests on Monday to determine the severity of the injury, which he sustained in training on Sunday. Langerak has now been diagnosed with a 'small torn muscle bundle' and is expected to be out of action until August. "Injuries like these always happen at the worst possible time," lamented head coach Alexander Zorniger. "But Mitch is a positive guy and will work his way back quickly."

Langerak joined the Baden-Württemberg club from fellow Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund last month, but fellow new arrival Przemyslaw Tyton is now set to take the Aussie stopper’s place between the sticks for VfB’s upcoming friendlies against BSC Young Boys (11 July), TSV Ilshofen (16 July) and FC Winterthur (26 July).
