Köln sign Hoffenheim striker Modeste
Cologne - 1. FC Köln have agreed a deal to sign Anthony Modeste from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
'One of the best leagues in the world'
The 27-year-old, who scored 23 goals in 62 competitive games over two seasons for Markus Gisdol's side, has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Rhineland giants.
"As a dynamic, dangerous striker, Anthony Modeste is exactly what we were looking for," explained the Billy-Goats' sporting director Jörg Schmadtke. "He knows the Bundesliga well and will offer another option going forward."
"For me, the Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world," Modeste added, "and I want to help Köln reestablish themselves. The club is one of the biggest and most famous clubs in Germany and playing in the RheinEnergieStadion will be a real highlight. The sporting philosophy really convinced me to join."
