Hamburg - Lady luck was on Hamburger SV's side as they picked up a 2-1 win over Hannover 96 on Saturday evening to lift themselves into the relative safety of mid-table.

bundesliga.com rounds up the post-match reaction from the encounter's protagonists...

Marcell Jansen: "We need to be realistic in assessing this encounter. We’re battling against the drop and these are three crucial points. Hannover were the better side before the break. We were a little lucky to be on the winning side today. I have to pay a big compliment to our central defenders who did extremely well today. Zoltan Stieber and Ivica Olic had a few chances to score in the second half, but we enjoyed some good periods of play after the break and battled throughout the game."

Ivica Olic: "I said before the game that the three points against Paderborn would be worthless unless we also beat Hannover. It's certainly more enjoyable to look at the table after the win. I knew it'd be a tough game. Hannover are difficult side to play, even at 2-0 down they didn't give in. I'm particularly happy for the fans that we won today. We'll enjoy the victory today, but then we'll need to start preparing ourselves for the game in Munich."

Lars Stindl: “We started the game on the front foot and had them at sixes and sevens only to fall behind due to a huge stroke of misfortune. We were even more unlucky to concede again in the manner that we did. Tonight we did a lot of things right, but once again we failed to walk away with three points at the end of the game. We dominated long periods, but there’s no doubting that we’ve got to keep working hard on ourselves and our performances. We’re able to turn things around because we have a talented squad. Next week we’ve got a difficult home game against SC Paderborn and we definitely have to win that.“

Ron-Robert Zieler: "On nights like this I’m lost for words. We just weren’t effective enough. Looking at the team’s performance, I’m convinced we can improve our results. We need to keep working hard and start collecting points again, but I don’t think we should be looking towards the European qualification spots. Marcelo is a good boy, he was just horribly unlucky today."
