Martinez sets sights on first-team training

Munich - Next Friday's Bundesliga restart comes too soon for , but the FC Bayern München midfielder says he's making all the right steps following injury.

The 26-year-old, who suffered knee ligament damage in the Supercup defeat to Borussia Dortmund last August, is now undergoing two rehabilitation sessions a day in order to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible.

'I'm stronger'

"We're doing some great work," Martinez said in a video on the club's official YouTube channel. "I'm stronger and starting to run now. I don't know for sure, but I'm hoping to be training with the team again in two or three months."

The 18-time Spanish international has played an integral part in Bayern's recent success since moving to Munich from Athletic Bilbao in August 2012, collecting back-to-back winner's medals in the Bundesliga and DFB Cup as well as lifting the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
