SC Paderborn 07 will be without Marvin Ducksch for the foreseeable after the Borussia Dortmund loanee striker fractured a metatarsal in Friday's 1-0 friendly win over FC Erzgebirge Aue. "Because of that and other injuries, we'll have to look at what's available in the transfer market," confirmed sporting director Michael Born. 10th-placed Paderborn's first league fixture of 2015 takes them to 1. FSV Mainz 05 on 31 January.

USA international wing-back Fabian Johnson scored the only goal of the game as Borussia Mönchengladbach beat Regionalliga-West outfit Rot-Weiss Essen 1-0 on Saturday. Despite failing to build on their lead, the result should give the Foals plenty of confidence ahead of their DFB Cup quarter-final clash with Regionalliga-West leaders Kickers Offenbach on 3 March.
