Dortmund - Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that forward Dong-Won Ji is to leave the club with immediate effect and rejoin FC Augsburg.

'I want to rediscover my form'

The 23-year-old has agreed terms on a contract until 2018 with the Bavarian club, for whom he scored one goal last season - against BVB - after joining in January 2014 from Premier League side Sunderland AFC.

The South Korean signed for Jürgen Klopp's side in the 2014 summer transfer window but did not play a single minute for Dortmund during the

Hinrunde

due to repeated fitness problems. "The first half of the season didn't quite go according to plan for me because of injury," Ji said. "I'm now really pleased to be able to pull on the Augsburg shirt again. I want to rediscover my form as quickly as possible so I can help the team reach its goals for the season."

Added quality

"We're giving the squad some additional quality [with the signing of Ji]," explained Augsburg sporting director Stefan Reuter. "We know him well, he knows us and we're sure that back in Augsburg he'll start delivering the top-quality performances that he showed last season." The Jeju native has won 31 caps for his country, including two at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, scoring five international goals.
