Gelsenkirchen - On a Halloween night of relatively few scares for FC Schalke 04, it was Klaas-Jan Huntelaar that stole the headlines.

'A good result in Lisbon would be a bigstep towards the knockout stages'

Question: The injury to was a real setback, though…

Huntelaar: We've got to wait and see what he's done exactly, but Jule's not the kind of player to leave the field after just 30 seconds for no reason. It doesn't look good and it certainly wouldn't be good if he were to be ruled out for a long time.

Question: This win has lifted Schalke to seventh in the standings…

Huntelaar: We're back in the top half of the table and if we want to stay there, we have to carry on winning. We have to carry on the way we've been doing lately, starting with our next game against Freiburg. We've won there in each of the last two years so let's just see. We'll do all we can to qualify for the Champions League again because that's what we want to be playing in.

Question: Speaking of the Champions League, before facing Freiburg you have to travel to Sporting on Wednesday. How do you see that game going?

Huntelaar: I expect us to pick up a good result. We're in a good position in the group with five points and a good result in Lisbon would be a big step towards the knockout stages.

Question: One final thing: how does your own future at Schalke look? [Sporting director] Horst Heldt has confirmed contract negotiations are underway…

Huntelaar: That's true. My agent has held some preliminary talks with the club and now we've got to see where things go. I'm focusing on playing football, which is what I like the most.
