Frankfurt - On behalf of the League Association Board, the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH has invited tenders for the introduction and operation of goal-line technology in the Bundesliga. The new system is to be implemented at the earliest possible moment, although not before 1 July 2015. The contract will run until the end of the 2017/18 season.

At a League Association members’ meeting in March 2014 the clubs making up the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 failed to reach the two-thirds majority required in order to introduce goal-line technology at the time.

Vote in December 2014

Following the 2014 DFB Cup final, FC Bayern München submitted a renewed request for the technology to be used in the Bundesliga. In August, prior to making another decision on the matter, the DFL and the League Association Board decided to carry out a tender process, which is to be completed before the next general meeting in December 2014.

At that meeting and once aware of the results of the tender process, the 18 Bundesliga clubs will vote on FC Bayern München’s proposal and decide whether or not to introduce goal-line technology in the Bundesliga.

Procedure letter on 25 September

As of now, interested parties in possession of a FIFA goal-line technology license can register to take part in an open, transparent and discrimination-free tender process.

On 25 September 2014 a so-called ‘Procedure Letter’ will be sent to the registered applicants containing a timetable and the guidelines for the tender process.
