Cruciate agony for Schalke's Kolasinac
Hanover - There was even more bad news for FC Schalke 04 on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season as it was confirmed on Sunday that had torn his anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee.
Fears confirmed
The Bosnia & Herzegovina defender left the field early on in the Royal Blues'
to Hannover 96 on Saturday.
A subsequent scan confirmed the worst fears with the 21-year-old ruled out for up to six months as a result of the serious knee injury. He will undergo surgery at the clinic of the renowned knee surgeon Dr Heinz Jürgen Eichhorn in Straubing on Tuesday, after which the long rehabilitation phase will commence. Kolasinac has played 41 times in the Bundesliga, but he lasted only 16 minutes on Saturday. He appeared twice for his country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup this summer, but is not now likely to play again until deep into the second half of the season. His club confirmed the news via Twitter.
