Tianjin - SV Werder Bremen made it two wins out of two on their pre-season tour of China as they came from behind to beat Chinese top-flight side Tianjin TEDA 2-1 on Saturday.

Elia impresses

Andrezinho gave the hosts the lead just before half-time, but Nils Petersen and Eljero Elia both found the net after the interval to hand Robin Dutt’s charges a narrow victory in front of 6,000 supporters at the TEDA Football Stadium.

TEDA were the more threatening of the two sides in the first half and took a deserved lead four minutes before the break when Brazilian playmaker Andrezinho steered into the far corner from the edge of the box.

Werder improved after the restart and restored parity through Petersen, who latched onto Elia’s through ball to finish with aplomb. The Dutchman then capped a fine performance with the winning goal 18 minutes before the end, slotting Theodor Gebre Selassie’s lay-off past stranded TEDA keeper Zong Lei.

Die Grün-Weißen beat Chinese Super League champions Changchun Yatai 1-0 on Wednesday, courtesy of Santiago Garcia’s second-half strike.
