Munich - Champions FC Bayern München have appointed Michael Reschke as their new technical director for the 2014/15 season.

'Expert in his field'

The 56-year-old, who joins from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, arrives at the request of sporting director Matthias Sammer, whom he will assist in the senior team, junior team, scouting and transfer departments, having last worked as squad manager for die Werkself.

Sammer was delighted to welcome Reschke, at Leverkusen for the last 35 years, as the latest addition to the Bayern staff: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to strengthen by bringing in Michael, who I’ve known for a long time and whose work I admire greatly. It was my express wish to have this post created at Bayern and to have him fill it. We’ve brought in someone who is an expert in his field and I look forward to working with him.”

Bayern were crowned Bundesliga for the 23rd time this season and also added a 17th DFB Cup triumph with over Borussia Dortmund last month. Leverkusen, meanwhile, have announced that Reschke's position will be filled by current chief of scouting Jonas Boldt.
