The Baden-Württemberg club went on to win five and draw two of the following eight games, producing yet another impressive end-of-season surge to eventually finish nine points clear of 16th-placed Hamburger SV. “I'm quite proud of what we've done in the last months,“ said an emotional head coach Christian Streich after prematurely securing another year of Bundesliga football with Freiburg after a 2-2 draw at VfL Wolfsburg on Matchday 32. "The team have had another outstanding season."
