Kolkata - 1899 Hoffenheim’s end-of-season tour of India as official ambassadors of the Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH DFL continues apace after their friendly match against a Mizoram State side.

Charitable cause

The Sinsheim club competed against the select XI from northeast India on Tuesday, but their activities since then have been a little more out of out the ordinary. On Thursday they participated in two charity schemes supported by software company SAP, the club’s sponsor.

The first was directed by a local educational institution, which offers schooling to socially disadvantaged children, with the second programme run by a clinic for impoverished kids, around 500,000 of whom are treated at the centre every year. Head coach Markus Gisdol, his assistant Frank Kaspari and sporting director Alexander Rosen all took part, as well as players Tobias Strobl and Joseph-Claude Gyau.

On Thursday evening the squad will leave Kolkata and travel to Goa, via Mumbai, where they will visit another social project - a football camp for children and young people - to bring their tour to a close.
