Leverkusen - Bayer 04 Leverkusen have landed a major coup for the coming season by securing the services of 1. FC Nürnberg striker Josip Drmic, two days after booking their place in the UEFA Champions League play-offs.

‘Dream come true’

The 21-year-old Switzerland forward, who found the net 17 times for relegated Nürnberg this season, put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the Rhineland club until 30 June 2019.

“A number of clubs were after him,” admitted die Werkself sporting director Rudi Völler. “We’re happy he’s opted to join us. He’s quick, good in one-on-one situations and versatile as he can play up front and on the wing. Josip’s a quality player and matches our ambitions perfectly."

Drmic himself could barely hide his delight at joining the BayArena outfit. “I’m looking forward to competing at the top of the Bundesliga with Bayer 04, and hopefully we’ll also reach the Champions League group stages in August. I really wish I could’ve helped Nürnberg avoid relegation, but this is a dream come true. Leverkusen are a top side.”
