Sepp Maier and Gerd Müller inducted into the Hall of Fame

Berlin - German football legends Sepp Maier and Gerd Müller have been inducted into the German Sports Hall of Fame, with the two 1974 FIFA World Cup winners joining a select group comprising of 80 of Germany’s biggest sporting personalities.

Since the year 2000, the ‘Golden Sport Pyramid’ benefit gala has been held on an annual basis to recognise the life’s work of one of Germany’s most prominent sporting figures. Former recipients include Rosi Mittermaier-Neureuther (2001), Uwe Seeler (2002), Franz Beckenbauer (2006), Heiner Brand (2007), Uli Hoeneß (2009) and Henry Maske (2012). This year’s winner will be announced in Berlin’s Hotel Adlon on 16 May.
