Mainz - It was a good day at the office for 1.FSV Mainz as they turned up the power to see off Werder Bremen and keep themselves well in the running for a return to the European arena next season.

bundesliga.com has a few understandably contrasting reactions from both camps in the wake of the Matchday 30 meeting at the Coface Arena:

Elkin Soto: The team put in a really great shift there, that was an important win for us. We set a really hot pace in the first half and it was good after the restart as well. We wanted to score again, but we're satisfied with how it turned out in the end. It's always good to get a clean sheet.

Zdenek Pospech: Bremen are a good side, that was no easy contest for us. I've got another four games to go and I'll keep giving it all I've got. Everything's still fairly normal at the moment, but the last game will be a bit special.

Werder Bremen

Clemens Fritz: Our first-half performance in particular was nothing short of shameful. That was a catastrophic game from our point of view. After a display like that, we really need to take a long, hard look at ourselves.

Zlatko Junuzovic: Mainz outplayed us from back to front in the first half, they just steamrollered us. I've no idea how many attempts on goal they had, they seemed to win every loose ball and every man-on-man situation. Things improved a bit in the second half, but by then the match had been decided.
