Hanover - Hannover 96's worst fears were confirmed on Friday with the news that leading scorer will miss the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old Senegalese international underwent a 45-minute operation at Hanover's Friederikenstift hospital after dislocating his right shoulder in the Reds' 1-1 home draw against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Matchday 24.

Diouf, who is expected to be out of the action for several months, has played in 19 Bundesliga games this term, finding the net eight times and laying on four assists.
