Dortmund - Borussia Dortmund were back to their very best in their 5-1 win over SV Werder Bremen, but as has happened so often this season, suffered an immediate setback with the news that both Sven Bender and Marco Reus are set for a brief spell on the sidelines.

Both first-team regulars came off in the 65th minute of the Saturday afternoon encounter and after undergoing tests at a local hospital on Sunday, club doctor Markus Braun was able to confirm that both had torn muscles in their right thighs.

As a result Bender’s availability for BVB’s home game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 21 is in doubt. Reus, meanwhile, is expected to need at least two weeks to recover, which could see him miss the Schwarz-Gelben's crucial UEFA Champions League first leg against Russian champions FC Zenit on February 25.
