Dortmund - Influential Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels is expected to spend "around two weeks" on the sidelines after injuring his right foot in a friendly against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Tuesday.

Having only just returned from a nine-week absence in Matchday 19’s 2-1 win at Eintracht Braunschweig, club doctor Markus Braun’s assessment comes as bitter news for a BVB side set to play five fixtures in the space of just three weeks in the month ahead.

Zenit doubt

As well as games against SV Werder Bremen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga, Dortmund also face pivotal ties in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup against Eintracht Frankfurt (11 February) and the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League against Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg (first leg, 25 February).
