After making an ideal start to the New Year, and moving out of the relegation zone, Freiburg's players spoke of their delight and renewed belief while Bernd Leno bemoaned his side's negligence.

bundesliga.com rounds up the post-match comments...

Felix Klaus: This victory was crucial for us. Beating a Champions League side isn't at all easy, the win means a real boost and helps us mentally.

Oliver Baumann: This is the way things should be. It's a pity it wasn't like this during the first half of the season. What we did today was incredible - the way we kept coming back. We thrive on games like these. We've had plenty of them in the past and it's great to have one again.

Bernd Leno: Each time we go in front, we take a step back and run one per cent less, and Freiburg punished us for that. Freiburg never give up and they are renowned for that. It's still bitter that they scored so close to the end, though.
