DFL kick off 2014 with new year's reception

Frankfurt/Main - Around 400 guests from the world of sport, politics, media and the economy took their seats inside the Thurn and Taxis Palais for the Deutsche Fußball Liga's (DFL) New Year's reception on Tuesday.

Under the motto 'Kick-off 2014', DFL CEO Christian Seifert used the occasion to announce last season's record turnover.

League Association President Dr Reinhard Rauball, meanwhile, spoke to host Patrick Wasserziehr about issues such as security, goal-line technology, the basic treaty with the German Footbal Association (DFB) and Financial Fair Play.

Other esteemed guests to take advantage of the intense debates on offer included: FC Bayern München chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, VfL Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs, Bundesliga legends Franz Beckenbauer und Günter Netzer, Sky Deutschland CEO Brian Sullivan, Fox International president and CEO Hernan Lopez, Hessen home secretary Peter Beuth, Frankfurt mayor Peter Feldmann, ARD program director Volker Herres and ZDF-Sport boss Dieter Gruschwitz.
