Hamburg - Manuel Neuer has been named 2013 World Goalkeeper of the Year by the International Football Federation of History and Statistics.

The 27-year-old, who has played every minute of Bayern's Bundesliga campaign so far, beat Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon and Chelsea FC stopper Petr Cech to the award, which is voted for by journalists and football experts from 70 countries.

Neuer, who joined Bayern from FC Schalke 04 in 2011, is on the shortlist for the goalkeepers's position in the 2013 FIFPro World XI, which will be announced at the FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony in Zurich on 13 January.
