Dortmund - was not a happy man after Matchday 16. He wanted more goals, self-critically claiming he should have had them too.

Two-horse race

If 11 goals is not enough at the midway stage of the season, then the Pole's soul-searching is a sign that he is hungrier than ever. So too is Hertha Berlin's , a surprise ally of Lewandowski's at the top of the scoring charts.

Lewandowski's impressive overall record for Borussia Dortmund reads 65 goals in 113 – more than one every other game; a dream record for any striker. He netted 24 last season, 22 in Dortmund's double-winning 2011/12 campaign, and he is on course to top both of those marks, and win the coveted Torjägerkanone.

However, the 25-year-old faces stiff competition from Ramos, whose 11 goals, including one in the 2-1 win at Dortmund, have helped lift his side into contention for a place in Europe next season. The 27-year-old therefore shares the podium with Lewandowski as the best striker of the season so far.
