Zurich, Switzerland - FC Bayern München midfielder Franck Ribery is one of the three players on the final shortlist to win the prestigious FIFA Ballon d'Or 2013 award.

The 30-year-old is joined by Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi in the running to be named as the world's best player.

Ribery is considered the strong favourite to take the honour after winning 2012/13 UEFA European Footballer of the Year award in August. His team-mate Thomas Müller backed Ribery's candidacy. "He's an exceptional player," he said. "I hope he'll get the Ballon d'Or." The winner will be revealed on 13 January 2014.
